Dunbarney and Forgandenny Parish Church

A place of Christian worship and outreach and a hub for the community enabling people to connect with Jesus and one another

Stated Annual Meeting - 8 May 2022

Picture
The Stated Annual Meeting will take place in Forgandenny Church on Sunday 8th May 2022 following the Church Service.  Due to COVID, we have been unable to have such a meeting for two years.  You can read the Trustees Report and Accounts here.

Perth Presbytery Mission Plan

At a meeting of the Presbytery of Perth on Saturday 12th February, The Planning and Development Committee presented its Presbytery Mission Plan Interim Report based on the instruction from the 2021 General Assembly that the number of centrally funded ministries in Perth Presbytery would be reduced from 26 to 16.5 ministries.   I strongly encourage you to go the "Announcements" tab of this website to read the full report and watch the presentation.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Due to the most recent changes to the Government guidelines, our church buildings are now allowed to open for Sunday Worship, weddings and funeral services.  Since Forgandenny Church now has WiFi, as from Sunday 12th September (inclusive) Sunday worship will alternate between Dunbarney and Forgandenny Church buildings.  The services will continue to be held on Sundays at 10.30am and will be streamed services on Facebook Live and uploaded to the Phone Broadcast system (01738 239392). The Church hall at Dunbarney is now open again.

The services will follow the pattern for the following weeks:
Sunday 1 May - 10.30am at Dunbarney
Sunday 8 May - 10.30am at Forgaandenny with Stated Annual Meeting
Sunday 15 May - 10.30am at Dunbarney (Christian Aid Service)
Sunday 22 May - 10.30am at Forgandenny
Sunday 29 May- 10.30am at Dunbarney
Sunday 5 June - 10.30am at Dunbarney (inc. The Sacrament of Holy Communion )
and so on.

If you would like to speak to anyone about any of these points , please contact Allan Wilson (Minister) or Anne Larg (Session Clerk). Very soon more professional streaming equipment will be installed into Dunbarney Church that should improve the quality and reliability of the service.

Once again, may I remind you we have a super church garden with prayer stations around Dunbarney Church.  There is also a labyrinth that has been set up around the cross.  Please use this wonderful space as a first step in returning to the church.

Be Still

Hear the doubting have found faith, the anxious have been encouraged.
Here the tempted have found help, the sorrowful comfort.
Here the weary have found rest, the strong have been renewed.
Here the aged have found peace, the young have been inspired.
Here the sinners have found forgiveness, and the saints their salvation.
Here may you find refreshment, and peace in your life’s meaning.
Come in and rest and pray, and may the God of peace grant you His blessing in your going out.

Welcome to Our Congregation

From the Rev Allan J. Wilson
Parish Minister, Dunbarney and Forgandenny Church.

Welcome to Dunbarney and Forgandenny Parish Church website. We are an active congregation of the Church of Scotland (Presbyterian) that serves our Parish, which includes the villages of Bridge of Earn & Kintillo, Forgandenny and Oudenarde.  Our congregation is part of the Presbytery of Perth.  We are a united congregation but retain two church buildings.

Normally both buildings have a Sunday service every week - apart from those occasions when we have a united service. At the moment however, due to Coronavirus (Covid-19) we are holding a single service on a Sunday morning in Dunbarney Church at 10.30am with additional occasional services at Forgandenny Church at 2.00pm.  The service is live-streamed on Facebook Live through our Facebook Page at 10.30am.  It would be great if you could join us.  Go to our Facebook page and ask to join.

Dunbarney and Forgandenny Parish Church has served the local community in one way or another, for well over 250 years.  Our aim is to be a place of Christian worship and outreach and a hub for the community enabling people to connect with Jesus and one another.  We are welcoming and hospitable.  We want to build each other up in faith and to love one another.  As an 'Eco-Congregation' we also try - through prayer, worship and action - to discover what it means to care for God’s creation.  We hope that the information on this website will show something of who we are and what we try to do for the community.

In a website, we can only scratch the surface of what we are about and give a small flavour of the work and worship that takes place in the church.  We hope that when the time comes, you will be able come along on a Sunday or perhaps, to one of the groups that meets throughout the week.  I'm sure you would be made so welcome.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. However, the best way to find out who we are is to experience us in person—come join us!  Your are most welcome.
